Interesting statistics from the Artists'evaluation for 2004-05

  • Artists travel an average of 25 miles to their scheme
  • Less than half had previously been students at the college they applied to
  • 58% of artists were 30 - 50 years old, 21% were younger and 21% were older
  • At least 3% of artists were disabled but unfortunately only 2% were of African or Asian origin
  • 48% saw an advert in a-n or CRAFTS magazine, 28% received a personal recommendation
  • An average of 95 hours (of the 100 hours offered) were used by the artists
  • 78% felt the scheme was long enough
  • 50% used facilities or equipment that was new to them
  • 85% rated one of the support areas offered, as important to them (library, lectures, life room, etc)
  • 65% said the £200 materials fund was an important factor in their decision to apply
  • 98% wanted to show their work on the AA2A website
  • Artists rated the importance of AA2A nationally at 9 out of 10 & their colleges hosting of AA2A at 8
