Trish Curtis(Click an image to see a larger version) With a background in design and advertising, and a degree in visual arts and media communication, the Cheltenham & Gloucester AA2A scheme gave Trish Curtis the chance to work in an educational environment again. "The scheme appeared at exactly the right time for me. After a few years break from painting I have decided that, now the children are more independent, I can make painting my ?full time job?-hopefully making a bit of profit on the way! The scheme provides a working deadline with all the technical support and facilities I needed to produce a solid body of work for exhibition. Having access to the college provides the necessary contact and input to stop me feeling isolated when working on my own. The learning centre sources are invaluable." Project: Experiencing the Landscape what matters in painting is not the subject but the way in which it is translated into colours and forms - James Whistler "My work commences with location drawings, informing myself how landscape can be described through different mediums. Back at the studio I use layers of coloured glaze to create depth and feeling. I remove motifs and symbols in an attempt to compose a perceptive object of line and colour on the two dimensional plane (the canvas), resulting in my own abstract imaginary landscape. The most important event during the painting process is that I am able to translate the colours I feel on to the canvas."
