Meeting Point/ Baby- White is part of a body of work created while resident in the Print Studios at Suffolk College as part of the AA2A scheme. My artistic practice covers both 2D drawing and 3D sculpture. Through a self initiated project brief I sort to create a series of prints that explore and address the space between the two and three-dimensional work I make, while in some way seeking to bridge that gap. The images are drawn from mass media, by reducing then to silhouettes their original meaning and context is erased. Cut off from a horizon, ungrounded within a landscape, the figures are isolated in the viewer's gaze. They are not encounters played out in front of a backdrop. The viewer can not enter, as voyeur, into the pictorial space but are confronted by the image pushed out from, but intrinsically bound to and created by, the flat picture plain. These prints are not intended to simply operate as two dimensional images but as explorations of the three dimensional space, through the relationship between the printed image and the reflection it creates.
