Valerie Coffin Price

This work was inspired by a visit made to the Toul Sleng Museum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2005 with Mary Husted. During the rule of the Pol Pot regime a school was turned into a prison, where whole families were brought for interrogation. Each new prisoner brought into the compound, was photographed and numbered. The walls of the rooms now hold frame after frame of these haunting images. Only a handful of the many thousands who entered survived. This was a moving and challenging experience and we have sought to make a work, which is homage to these forgotten faces.
