Tabatha Andrews

I am a sculptor and installation artist, working with a wide range of materials; from bronze to glass, sound, light and video projection. I found the AA2A scheme at PCAD particularly useful in researching computer animation techniques for my work in DVD projection; I ended up working in a much more immediate, tactile way but it was important to go through this process. Recent projection works explore the ability of light and darkness to reveal and conceal the world around us, questioning the relationship between the projection and the surrounding environment, the body and the eye. I am interested in the 'phantasmagoria' of pre-cinema, creating an experience that shifts the boundaries between reality and illusion. 'Dilation' was one of a series of works commissioned by the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust for 'REVEAL' in April 2006. It was projected directly onto the forest, some of which could be walked into (for further description of the pieces see axis link below).
