I am interested in the realm of fairy tales and have been working on a series of book-works exploring these themes. I've used second-hand books to create sculptures, which evoke a sense of the melancholy enchantment imbued within their text.

The pieces have a visual story-telling element, the characters caught up in whimsical, sometimes haunting journeys.

I find the materialisation of a flat piece of paper an almost magical process and am exploring the relationship between two and three dimensionality by painstakingly cutting out the pages of the book and re-sculpting them, thereby allowing the book to be read in a another way.
