Philip Redford

Painter, printmaker, book artist. Studied Brighton in the first half of the 1960s and lectured for thirty years at Leeds Art College/Polytechnic/Metropolitan University (all one place). Retired from full time 1997. Work deals with images of the human figure in movement, occasionally landscape and at times an ongoing obsession with music; eg. the fourteen year project resulting in a series of four hand printed linocut books based on Wagner's 'Ring' cycle and a fifth his music drama 'Tristan und Isolde'. Planning a series of biggish linocuts using the hydraulic press at Loughborough. Images based on drawings/paintings loosely related to Stravinsky's 'Rite'.
