Hull School of Art and Design 2009/2010
Nora Kennally
During my time on the AA2A scheme I wanted to develop my jewellery design in new directions, I hoped to explore larger scale work and to use different techniques. My inspiration came from the surrounding fields and trees where I live. My research began with test pieces and the use of the workshop allowed me to try larger scale work in copper. As I worked I realised that my ideas could be viewed as a relating collection of jewellery and larger scale work, and I have developed three connecting groups of objects, exploring form in sheet copper, copper and brass wire and precious metals for jewellery. I have also used printing methods to develop my drawing techniques and design development, which is a totally new direction for me.
I am very grateful for the time and resources that have been available to me through this scheme. It has allowed me to spend time concentrating on my work and I am very pleased with the results. I have introduced techniques and materials I would not have without this time and space in the college, in particular in the development of the ideas. Working in this way I have developed new work and I have still so much I want to do!. I would like to thank Hull College and AA2A for this opportunity.
