Mandie Saw

I trained as a printmaker at Winchester School of Art before going on to do a Master Degree in Photography at the London School of Printmaking.

Since then I have been running creative fine arts based workshops for vulnerable members of the community, however my own practice has or incredibly important to me, as unless I keep myself creatively fed I cannot work and enthuse affectively with the people I work alongside. In order to do this I have worked in Portland stone carving and helped set up several projects but one in particular is 'Metal Monkeys'. Last year we received funding to set up, build and run our own continuous pour iron furnace.

All these practices feed into my own work, 'looking into the kitsch side of Catholism', although just lately and through spending time travelling this seams to be extending to Buddhism. My work is not disrespectful but hopefully thought provoking and questioning. I would like some day to take this forward maybe to a PhD or maybe just to a book.
