Process is an integral part in the development of my ideas and work. The AA2A scheme has enabled me to focus and explore the possibilities of editing and colour using Final Cut Pro.

I wanted to create a short moving image piece where the sound and image were totally integrated.

I have managed to achieve this by firstly editing, layering, adding colour and structuring using non linear editing, then re-filming the image and sound while manipulating the play head to create a rhythmical sound/image structure.

The resulting video piece combines footage of grasses, birdsong, the moon; quiet reflective spaces mixed with the movement of people through strata like stations and across cities.

The piece is evocative of how we move through different spaces/worlds in quick succession carrying with us memories, thoughts and observations. The title ‘Turn Around’ reflects this mix up of vision and sound a new moment of being.
