I am looking for an opportunity to expand my practice as a painter and more specifically to develop printmaking skills. In creating paintings, I take inspiration from my immediate surroundings. These individual images create a theme and evolve into a complete body of work.
I have not had the opportunity to use university library facilities since I finished my studies 5 years ago. I regularly use a public library for ideas and research for my painting which up until now has worked well. However, I feel that returning to a university library would be a different and welcome experience and would benefit my work. At the moment I feel I have limited printmaking facilities although I have many creative ideas that I wish to develop. Therefore, to be able to use equipment such as larger printing presses and lithography processes would be a good opportunity to develop my skills and ideas.
From this opportunity I wish to gain a greater understanding of printmaking techniques and to continue to expand my knowledge, ideas and skills as a painter. My ultimate aim would be to create a body of work that reflects what I have experienced whilst in a university environment. My plan would be to exhibit this work in galleries in which I am already involved, and hopefully to source new spaces to exhibit around the area of the university.
