Delfina Bottesini

During the AA2A scheme I had a chance of completing a ceramic tile floor that had been put on hold due lack of equipment. As a painter and a tile maker I enjoy exploring geometric patterns. Geometry, a universal language that travels beyond time and place, is rich with symbolism.

Earth and Moon is a set of tiles inspired by a Moroccan pattern. Whilst re-designing the original pattern, I came across the geometric construction for its right proportions. Such construction uses the proportions of Moon and Earth to square the circle, which is the key to the pattern.
