Bjorn Birk
Whether depicting the artist's attempts at launching a model aeroplane
made from concrete or at the conquest of a small island in a public
park, Bjorn Birk's video clips and photographs are comical yet tragic
reminders of our futile efforts to control fate.
His work pokes fun at masculinity by undermining ideas of efficiency,
heroic effort and achievement, thus leaving the observer oscillating
between feelings of sympathy and Schadenfreude.
