Anne Guest

The AA2A scheme has allowed me to allow myself the time and space to use resources at BCU that I had identified as potential for developing my practice. I have had access to animation software and have experimented with various other techniques. Interaction with staff and students alike has been very beneficial.

I was selected to exhibit at Flatpack Festival in Birmingham in March 2009 and made a DVD where I represented the Hitchcock film Psycho solely by using the language of the short messaging system (sms) and emoticons which are used to send messages on mobile phones. This was the first time I had made a DVD that did not show recorded imagery and was a direct result of my time on the AA2A scheme. This DVD was consequently shown in an exhibition space at BCU.

I am also working on 2 animation projects, one using Flash software and the other using a stop motion technique, that are ideas that have developed as a result of this opportunity and which I will be submitting for exhibition in the near future.
