Aidan Moesby

We carry with us our memories and complexes; our emotional baggage, our psychological heritage. Aidan Moesby's practice is largely informed through the linguistic and visual imagery we use to create and make sense of this. His text based works explore the conflict within ourselves and the world we inhabit. The overall theme is the often subtle, fragile and dynamic boundary between Order and Chaos, Dislocation and Memory.

Moesby's work is text based, and whilst for some artworks words may be cut out from or printed on to paper, he utilises a variety of media, technologies and approaches in order to realise the artwork. Whether using dust, parquet, paint or pixel as medium the text and its imbued meaning is always paramount – be it literal or metaphoric, conscious or unconscious, the concrete or the fluid.

Using text and installation, exploring psychodynamics, his work has a displacement. Within exists the simultaneous calm and dis-comfort - the conflicted continuum of ease and dis-ease.
