Tracey Ayre-Massey

As a textile artist my work is firmly grounded in the rigor of textile technique. I believe my strongest work has emerged from an innovative synthesis of historical and contemporary sources, which gives the work resonance.

My work has focussed on pieces, which capture the ephemeral, for example notions of memory, reminiscence, value and meaning. The imagery brings together fragments of materials and layers of texture, which allows the viewer to build up a relationship with the work.

I have been able to use the research and development opportunity to establish a body of work, which draws on the multidimensional opportunities of fibre and make changes to the scale and approach of my work.
