As a saddler and leather craftsperson my work involves the use of traditional techniques in a modern content. My intention is to further explore the historical use of such techniques and produce a series of items from the past using archaeological and sculptural evidence.

I have chosen to construct leather items from the roman era as this period has produced a significant amount of archaeological evidence while being far enough in the past to illustrate the earliest examples of several leather techniques. Some items have been chosen to show that design have little changed over 2000 years and a saddle to show how far modern technology has influenced change and development.

All of the items produced will be historically accurate and in some cases will be the most accurate representation made to date.
