My new work developed on the AA2A scheme, explores the technique of colouring porcelain with stains and oxides. I have created brightly coloured butterflies using the millefiori technique, which will then be laminated onto very thin sheets of white porcelain.

The porcelain when fired becomes translucent and when held to the light the butterflies on the side of the forms will become visible on the outside flitting around the vessel as though trapped. I hope to develop a range of forms from enclosed lidded vessels through to open bowls, to portray the journey from cocoon to butterfly. I also hope to incorporate light into these pieces in order to display the work to it's best advantage.
