In 1999 I travelled to Thailand it was whilst there I became aware of the growing refugee crisis both inside Burma and on the border of Thailand as a result of the mass exodus of refugees from Burma.

Anatomy of Exiles, was created out of this climate. The work seeks to address the question; "Is there a place for the artist to add something vital to the debate and portrayal of contemporary social, political and human issues?" Through the influence of contemporary artists, filmmakers, journalist and photographers Anatomy of Exiles, seeks to engage with the most germane, the most convincing method to tell a story. The objective is to discover what part the ceramic medium can play in conveying an overall account within the context of the work.

Anatomy of Exiles tells one child's story, through video, slide text and object.

Through the creation of this work, I aim to provoke a dialogue, a narrative within which the viewer can engage. The aims of Anatomy of Exiles are three-fold; to create dialogue between viewer and artist, to convey a narrative, and to highlight awareness of socio-political issues in an informed way.
